It’s my daughter’s 7th Birthday today. She’s such a little girl now– so full of wonder and wisdom. I am grateful everyday that she is my daughter.
I wrote this poem while on retreat in Ojai and I dedicate it to her today. I think she already knows what it took me many years to discover.
The Kiss of Sky
I sit in a rusty white chair
at the center of a grassy field.

My friends, I am lucky enough to have spent another 36 hours here in Ojai –writing. I feel a rather profound internal shift occurring that doesn’t yet have many words. I know how important it is for me to have this time of silence and Self. I’m going to make a commitment to have this time at least once every 6 weeks. Everyone will benefit — my children, my husband, myself.
I

My 36 hours in Ojai still rings within me. It was a time I know will stand out in my memory. Almost impossible to capture in words, something opened in me for those hours that stretched me into a new understanding and a new sensitivity. I got a glimpse of a different way of living. I consider it such a gift.
The LAST 24 hours have been remarkably hard. When we

The early hour.
The scent of something past.
The growing light in the sky.
The wisp of cloud.
The crispness of morning.
The chisel of mountain top.
The rawness of my heart.
The whisper of possibility.
The generosity of the orange grove.
The stillness that softens.
The bowl of tea.
The new face in the mirror.
Hello lovely people!
Just a bit of housekeeping right off! I’ve been doing more and more video blogs and I’m discovering that my most loyal and lovely subscribers aren’t receiving the video blogs in the email blog. Until I work out this glitch, if the blog email seems somehow incomplete, do visit my site for the video. I hope to talk a lot of astrology through video on this blog. But

It’s a beautiful morning. It’s early. It’s spring. I’m grateful for the day.
I Tell You
(excerpt)
I could not predict the fullness
of the day. How it was enough
to stand alone without help
in the green yard at dawn.
How two geese would spin out
of the ochre sun opening my spine,
curling my head up to the sky
in an arc I took for granted.
And the lilac bush by the red
brick wall flooding the air
with its purple

This poem makes me happy. I breathe deeper when I read it. I soften. I open.
North Country
by Mary Oliver
In the north country now it is spring and there
is a certain celebration. The thrush
has come home. He is shy and likes
the evening best, also the hour just before
morning; in that blue and gritty light he
climbs to his branch, or smoothly
sails there. It is okay to know
only one song if it

It was my birthday last week–a truly lovely day. You’ve gotta love the Facebook Birthday Reminder. I felt very held, loved and celebrated. A few girlfriends took me out the night before and showered me with love and then on my birthday itself, Andrew took me out for dinner. The location was a surprise. I love surprises. I can relax if I have no idea where I’m going, how long

Every day I have a “To do” list. The moment I wake I start compiling and organizing and preparing and making lists. One day last year I was crinkling my brow and furiously recording everything that HAD TO be completed on that given day when my husband, Andrew Heffernan (http://www NULL.malepatternfitness NULL.com), put this paper in front of me. He’d been scribbling as I was scribbling. But his “To do”

One of the things I want to do consistently in this blog is talk about love through many mediums. I’m interested in how astrology can open conversations about love and how poetry is a gateway to pierce the heart. Whatever medium we work with or whatever conversation we are having, there is always a threshold that waits to be crossed. That threshold is an entrance to the heart. And once
